blending in at the getty

Memorial Day weekend at the Getty in LA was crowded but definitely worth the trip! The skies were clear, the wind was blowing, and the temperature was near-perfect. Besides the very disappointing and very small coffee they served, I was thoroughly impressed by the entire experience. And I had the perfect outfit to match...the color palette I chose (completely neutral- my favorite favorite favorite) matched the architecture freakishly well. If it weren't for my dark hair and black bag then I would have blended into the walls. This sweater and these pants are among my favorite pieces at the moment. Obviously the neutral tones make them clear winners in my book (I'm a neutral girl) and I love the proportions. To me there is something so powerful about being completely consumed in mountains of fabric but still feel beautiful and totally chic. So that's what I did here- paired a severely oversized sweater with very flowy wide-legged pants. Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend, one more day until reality sets in again!

lady in leather

Decided to take a casual stroll around Newport's finest- Fashion Island. This "mall" is seriously an oasis; it's a place where shopping isn't even necessary. Good food (pain du monde's chocolate croissants = heaven on earth), well-groomed dogs, and impeccable weather make just lounging and relaxing a unique experience unto itself. Got a new skirt ordered from Gilt in the mail today! Does anyone else have a habit of having to wear something new the moment you get it? Love how the toughness of the leather is balanced out with the fuller A-line cut to create an edgy yet sophisticated look. I paired it with this lace-ish peplum top to keep with the ladylike trend and topped it off with my new favorite hat from Bloomingdales. This little backpack is yet another bag passed down to me from my mother- vintage Dooney and Burke. And I think these Vera Wang heels are probably going to be my new favorite summer sandals. The two tone goes with everything and they are comfortable and simple.

olive and an open road

dress t-bags, necklace r.j. graziano, jade necklace grandmother's, shoes steve madden

A quick trip to the dessert and an impromptu right turn led to these photos. The olive green dress and the muted colors of the dessert seemed to really compliment each other with the late afternoon sun. The second I saw this dress online I knew I had to have it; it reminded me of something I read on Net-A-Porter..."Remember this: it's coy rather than brazen, suggestive not overt". This outfit represents a celebration of femininity and the power of bold dressing. It's elegantly understated yet loud and empowering. It's the perfect amount of right with just a little bit of wrong. I added my own personal touch with my favorite gold collar coupled with one of the many jade pieces that was passed down to me from my grandmother. I love the layering of these two necklaces as they seem to really just well... fit together. This combination of jade and gold is not only deeply rich in color, but also holds a dear place in my heart.

Hello world! First. Post. Ever. So here goes nothing? I made this blog to provide another perspective, to show what I think about life and love...but mostly life (whatever that is), fashion and food...but mostly fashion, and everything in between. So come along with me if you so choose and hopefully you enjoy what I have to say, show, and express. I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes- "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is to love and to be loved in return" - Moulin Rouge. And with that, cheers to the people who love to eat, drink, travel...and look good doing it!
